The Cabildo de Tenerife has approved this Thursday the declaration of strategic interest of the Imagen Green Studios (IGS) project, promoted by the KISS Media Group, which intends to install an audiovisual complex in Adeje with 19 sets in 400,000 square meters, which would generate , according to company estimates, the creation of 15,000 direct and indirect jobs.
Kiss Media has applauded the decision of the Cabildo and, through a statement, has ensured that “the implementation of IGS in the Archipelago would complete the attractive natural characteristics of the islands for the audiovisual world with a competitive platform of specialized technical and human resources capable of to cover the entire shooting and post-production process with the excellence demanded by both international and national audiovisual creations”.
According to the project, which will occupy 400,000 square meters of the Fañabé industrial estate, IGS will have 19 sets “equipped with all the latest generation services and technology to accommodate all the needs of film production.” In addition, it will have a professional and postgraduate training center for the training of designers, carpenters, artisans, make-up artists, etc., who meet the demands of productions and blockbusters with the necessary level of professional training. In addition, the project includes more than twenty post-production rooms for image and sound and two sets for aquatic and underwater filming.
IGS announces that this audiovisual complex will compete in the international market with London, Rome or Berlin, “where today the vast majority of blockbusters outside of Hollywood are concentrated, to also attract large European projects”.
In the words of Blas Herrero, president of the Kiss Media Group, “Imagine Green Studios represents the culmination of our permanent commitment to the Canary Islands and the Spanish audiovisual sector. Since the arrival of the company in the Archipelago with its radio formats, the Canary Islands has become a strategic territory for us with innumerable possibilities for expansion. The development of this audiovisual hub aims to return to the canaries all the success they have given us with their follow-up and support. IGS will place the Canary Islands and Spain at the top of the world audiovisual map”.
The KISS Media Group is one of the main communication conglomerates in Spain with 100% Spanish capital and a presence throughout the national territory. Its activities have focused for more than 20 years on the audiovisual sector. The radio station chains Kiss FM and Hit FM belong to the group, with more than 200 dials throughout the country. Also the television channels DKiss and Hit TV, as well as the audiovisual production company Quiero Producciones and the event production company Kiss+Eventos.
In a statement made public at the end of the vote in the Cabildo de Tenerife, Kiss Media has highlighted that “The Canary Islands are one of the regions with the greatest possibilities and attractions in the world for any business in general and for the film and series sector, in particular. To its variety of landscapes, which in turn constitute an unlimited catalog of natural filming locations, is added its status as the outermost region of Europe. This characteristic allows the archipelago to have very attractive special taxation for national and international productions with higher budgets”.
