This weekend, specifically, on June 10 and 11, one of the most deeply-rooted traditions will take place in the municipality, as is the case of Corpus Christi, an event that has the collaboration of groups, associations and municipal parishes.
In said festivity, about 500 kilos of marble, dyes and other varieties of components will be used with which said groups will elaborate different images and tapestries in the squares and streets.
The elaboration of carpets in the municipality on the occasion of Corpus Christi has become over the years a meeting and coexistence point and although it has an evident religious component, this activity is a municipal tradition with an important cultural and ethnographic.
The city council will deliver to the different groups and associations all the necessary materials for the elaboration of the same. The places where the carpets will be made are the squares of Santiago del Teide and Tamaimo, outside the Santa Gema Center and in the vicinity of the Church of Puerto de Santiago.
