The projects Give us the can 2022-2023 and Youth in Actionas well as the Entemanser Educational Classroom -framed within the strategy sustainable granadilla-, celebrated World Environment Day by offering resources and activities so that the entire educational community of the municipality is trained and aware of the best practices and sustainable attitudes in daily life.
The public company Sermugran, with Entemanser (a water service concession company), celebrated this Monday the World Environment Day in the square of El Medano. Framed in the strategy Sustainable passion fruit, recognizes the work on sustainability in the social, economic and environmental spheres. In this case, the work in this matter developed by the educational centers through the ninth edition of Give us the can and Youth in action.
From 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Youth in Action distinguished the IES El Médano and Granadilla de Abona, while the Give us the can program rewarded the work of the Isaac de Vega, La Jurada, Froilán Hernández, Montaña Roja, Los Abrigos, Juan García Pérez, Charco del Pino and La Pasada schools .
give us the can promotes the inclusion of families and educational communities in the collection and segregation of household waste through minors. All the centers that participated in this school contest have several containers for selective separation in which they deposit the light packaging recovered thanks to the collaboration of families, AMPAs, teachers and the rest of the social environment of the schools. Under the premise “each container adds up”, those centers with a greater volume of waste receive an economic contribution with the aim of providing them with school supplies, new technologies and other investments that improve the general educational level of the municipality.
Youth in Action is a socio-educational movement that seeks to encourage education for sustainability and civic values through the importance of separating and depositing light packaging in the yellow and blue containers for subsequent recycling, through a collaborative exercise that promotes the creative thinking of students by generating innovative citizen awareness materials. It seeks not only to reward students with greater environmental awareness, but also to reward the entire student community through the design of a sustainability plan.
Through interactive games, demonstrations and educational talks, Entemanser, the company responsible for managing the municipal water service, brought the students closer to the importance of making responsible use of water, both the clean water that comes out of the taps and all what the sanitation network transports, either through the toilet in our houses or into the sewers.
