This decision, starting at 8:00 a.m. this Wednesday, will mean, as a preventive measure, the closure of outdoor municipal facilities and those that involve an influx of public, whether sports (sports centers, municipal swimming pools, sports fields… .) cultural and any other leisure and recreation.

This activation is based on the information collected by the consistory and the update of the rain alert carried out a few hours ago by the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands. It should also be remembered that another wind alert is currently in effect that also affects the island of Tenerife.

The municipal resolution supposes the suspension of any leisure activity, both sports and cultural and of a similar nature that involves the influx of public and that was scheduled to take place from 08:00 a.m. until further notice.

All municipal services are notified in advance for the resolution of possible incidents that may occur in the municipal area, also making an appeal to the population to avoid unnecessary travel or exposure to risk situations. Since yesterday, municipal personnel and service companies have been reviewing and evaluating places and infrastructures that could be affected by the rains that are expected from storm Oscar.

As in other alerts for adverse meteorological phenomena, it is insisted on asking citizens to act responsibly and avoid, as much as possible, putting themselves at risk, since heavy rains or wind can cause unforeseen events both on highways and municipal roads , as well as urban furniture and public and private infrastructures.
