SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The acting Ecological Transition Councilor of the Government of the Canary Islands, José Antonio Valbuena, has shown this Monday his predisposition to be part of the PSOE candidacy for the Senate for the island of Tenerife in the next General Elections.
In an interview with ‘Radio Club Tenerife’ and collected by Europa Press, he said that he is going to defend the “line of action” that he has maintained throughout the Legislature at the head of his department to fight against climate change and a “differentiated” message. from the Canary Islands but at the same time “connects” with the objectives of the central government.
He has recognized that he was betting on the continuity of the ‘Pact of Flowers’ and for this reason he ruled out going on electoral lists because he believes that a politician should not accumulate responsibilities and now he hopes to obtain organic support and then that of the citizens.
“We have to take to the streets with force to get people to endorse these policies”, he indicated, proud of his work at the head of the Ministry despite the fact that many of his measures “did not like” but had to be taken out of respect for the legality and defense of the environment.
The PSOE has opened the election process to the assemblies this Monday and Tuesday, there will be an insular committee on Thursday to approve the lists and finally the federal committee on Saturday will ratify them, Valbuena has indicated.
He has also commented that the fight against climate change “is a flag” of the PSOE as demonstrated by both state and Canary Islands sectoral laws, biodiversity aid plans or more recently the protection of Doñana.
Valbuena has indicated that the senator and candidate for mayor of Arico, Olivia Delgado, will also present her candidacy and for now she is not aware that the current president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, will do the same.
He has commented that “any comrade” can opt for the Senate candidacy and in his specific case he stresses that he has been “crisp and clear” with his alternative since Wednesday of last week.
Valbuena has assumed that it will be a “tough campaign” in which it is necessary to “reconnect with the vote” through environmental policies and has ruled out that it has suffered “organic reprisals” for promoting the file that paralyzed the urbanization works tourist in the Puertito de Adeje.
“I don’t want to believe it like that, some tell me but I don’t want to believe it. They acted with a legal report because they could be in the Prosecutor’s Office,” he said, also noting that any public official “is obliged to act” with technical reports.
