The five councilors of the Popular Party, the five of the Canary Islands Coalition and the four of Más por Arona will assume the municipal government of the municipality with the largest population in the South, thus ending the eight-year stage in the Mayor’s Office of the socialist José Julián Mena, who the past 28M obtained eight councilors, five below the absolute majority.

The agreement establishes that Fátima Lemes (PP) will assume the baton, thus becoming the first mayor of the municipality, while Clara Pérez (CC) will occupy the first tenure of mayoralty and Dácil León (Más por Arona) the second. The three formations underline in a joint statement that the areas of government “will be made by mutual agreement, taking into account the profiles and experience of each of the councillors.”

PP, CC and MxA announce that they will form a “government of stability and capacity to face the enormous challenges that lie ahead for us in the next four years, so the will and commitment is to jointly address the needs of the municipality.”

The three parties emphasize that “the objective is to work as a team, with transparency, consensus and counting on all the forces that have representation.”
