The central government has granted the Candelaria City Council a grant of three million euros to improve and modernize its tourism sector. Thanks to this help from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, headed by Héctor Gómez from Tenerife, whose approval was published yesterday in the Official State Gazette, the Candelariero Consistory will carry out the 17 actions planned by the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination Candelaria Viva.
The acting mayor, the socialist Mari Brito, who will continue to lead the Mayor’s Office after achieving victory last Sunday and a majority of 11 councilors in the elections local, expresses its satisfaction for obtaining this subsidy. “It will allow us to carry out very important projects for the municipality,” he stressed. Among them he cited the environmental regeneration of the Chacorche Ravine, the renaturation of ravines, the creation of a network of pedestrian itineraries and tourist accessibility or the signposting of the trail network.

There are four axes in which the subsidy is divided. The first is Green and Sustainable Transition, which includes the environmental regeneration of the Chacorche Ravine and green corridors, within the ravine renaturation program, for an amount of 725,000 euros. The Energy Efficiency Improvement section has 1.4 million euros. The following actions will be carried out: the network of pedestrian itineraries and tourist accessibility, an urban elevator and improvement of the environment of Santa Ana, an urban-rural pedestrian connection, improvement and conditioning of the Camino Viejo to Candelariathe homologation of the trails of Barranco Hondo and Igueste and the signage of the Red de Senderos.
Advice and training in digitization for SMEs, entrepreneurship in new tourism and digitization niches, big data for the analysis of tourist flows at the destination and promotion and digital dissemination are the actions of the Digital Transition axis, with an item of 375,000 euros. Finally, actions will be carried out for the amount of 470,000 euros in terms of Beautification of the historic center of Candelaria.
