The negotiations between the PP of Santa Cruz, led by Carlos Tarife, and the Canarian Coalition, headed by the current acting mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, “advance” in the right direction. At least this is confirmed by the PP candidate for Mayor, who, although he does not want to admit that the pact is under way, from his words it can be deduced that the harmony with the Canary Islands Coalition is good enough so that, after two meetings, Tarife waits already for the approval of the regional and national directive to continue with the details of the negotiations regarding the distribution of areas, on which some progress has already been made.

“We had a meeting with CC this afternoon (yesterday), and in principle things seem to be progressing, we are going to see what happens, and from there we will make decisions, since I do not manage alone,” he said. “The pact also depends on the approval of the PP of the Canary Islands and the national leadership. We’ve had a couple of meetings, things seem to be moving forward pending some bangs,” he added.

With regard to the Mayor’s Office, it also seems clear that it will be assumed again by Bermúdez, although Tarife insists on his conditions. “I reiterate what I have said so far. I am a consistent man, if they tell me that there is an agreement with the CC, or if that were the case, with the PSOE, a document will be signed with the commitment that whoever gains access to the Mayor’s Office must serve for four years, and if that does not happen, the table of the pact will be summoned”.

Asked about what the PP would do in the event of this situation, it was clear: “If it is breached, the PP would ask the Mayor, at that pact table, because anything else is to deceive the citizen.” He insisted that “I am not going to make anyone from CC who is not José Manuel Bermúdez mayor, nor from the PSOE who is not Patricia Hernández.” “In the campaign I was sincere, I asked for a debate and to sign a four-year tenure document for the two candidates, from there I am consistent,” he said.

As for the Socialists, “I held a formal meeting with the PSOE on Wednesday afternoon, in which there was no proposal from the PSOE and in which I told them that my intention is not to agree with them in Santa Cruz, except that the party so manifest and that pact go in chain with others, especially at the insular level”.

“I went directly with Patricia, I am not going to deceive her, this is what it is; In the event that the party sends it to me, we would be willing to talk. In principle, it is not my idea, that is what I promised in the campaign, that I would not agree with the left, and that is what I am fulfilling, ”she added.

Regarding the distribution of areas, “some issue has been discussed in the distribution of the area but it remains to be seen,” Tarife clarified. At the moment, there are no more meetings planned, “especially since to finish closing we need authorization from the island, regional and national management.”

Regarding the feelings of the PP candidate about this “advance” of the negotiations, “my feelings are that the PP is key in Santa Cruz and, therefore, they need us. Of course, we are sensible people, we are not going to ask for 18 areas, nor accumulate for the sake of accumulating ”.
