“We will ask to preside over the Cabildo let’s agree with whom we agree”

«We want to preside over the Cabildo of TenerifeLet’s agree with whom we agree, because with eight directors we look from face to face at CC and PSOE». This is confirmed by Emilio Navarro, president of the Popular Party on the Island, reinforced by the good results in the elections last Sunday, Navarro separates this approach from the hypothetical agreement with Canarian Coalition for the local government. The PP wants more power in Tenerife and starts with the Cabildo, where it is the third force after doubling its representation.

Explains Navarro, also mayor of Santiago del Teide, that “in the Metropolitan Area we link the Cabildo and the Santa Cruz City Hall.” Regarding the Island Corporation, it warns that “they (CC and PSOE) have co-governed for twelve years and it is time for the Popular Party, the only one that can give the turn that the citizens of the Island want.”

On the island map, the president of the popular values that “now we have to sit down and talk.” This dialogue will take Navarro from the South to the North. He mentions the situation after the elections in the town halls of Güímar, Granadilla, Arona, Arico, Guía de Isora, Los Silos, Icod, Tegueste and Tacoronte. A long but fast journey – before the 17th – for the essential Tenerife government pacts.

Navarro explains that he has already spoken with the regional leader, Manuel Dominguez, to whom he has transmitted that on the Island they will “advance where there is a possibility of governing.” The objective is “the presidency of an important administration such as that of the Cabildo.” Furthermore, he does not rule out an agreement with the PSOE. It would not be necessary to present a motion of censure but the resignation of Peter Martin to make Lope Afonso president. He concludes: «Let’s talk about programs. We already said that our only red line was Podemos.
