SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 31. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Researchers from the CSIC Delegation centers in the Canary Islands, almost two years after the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano, have taken stock of their experiences to reflect them in the interactive exhibition ‘Ash and lava. Scientific revelations next to the volcano’.
The initiative has the involvement of Museums of Tenerife and the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology – Ministry of Science and Innovation and the Cabildo de Tenerife.
The exhibition will open on June 29 at the Tenerife Museum of Science and Cosmos and will remain open until February 4, 2024. During this period the public will have the opportunity to see, and in some cases even manipulate, materials and instruments directly linked to the eruption and which for the first time have been collected and put into museums to be exhibited.
A walk through the interior of a volcanic tube, the replica of a work area, materials expelled by the volcano and, above all, the scientific discoveries provided by the eruption are the protagonists of this exhibition.
Most of the pieces have been temporarily donated by researchers from the Institute of Natural Products and Agrobiology (IPNA), the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO) and the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME), organizers of ‘Ceniza y lava’. There is also material from other entities such as GEO3BCN, IGN, ICMAN or GES, to name a few.
All the information about opening hours and access to ‘Ceniza y lava. Scientific revelations next to the volcano’ will be disseminated shortly by the institutions involved through their websites and social networks.
