The Tacoronte-Acentejo Summer Extra returns to La Laguna and reaches its tenth edition, in which the wine culture will repeat the leading role during this month of June. The initiative was presented yesterday at the Casa de los Capitanes and will reach its climax on June 29 with the already traditional San Betinto, which will take place in the La Concepcion square.
“It is an appointment that has been a benchmark,” said the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutierrezwhich highlighted the importance of «make known the potential of our gastronomy». He was accompanied at the event by the person in charge of Rural, Agrarian, Livestock and Fisheries Development of the La Laguna City Council, Aitor López; the president of the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Tacoronte-Acentejo, José Manuel gonzalezand the manager of the aforementioned entity, Mari Paz Gil.
The program will start on June 8 and 9 with a comic signing session with the illustrator Max, National Comic Award winner, at the Lemus Bookstore in La Laguna. With the collaboration of Multicines Tenerife, the wine from the Tacoronte-Acentejo region will approach the opera on Tuesday June 13 with Il Trovatore. On Thursday the 15th, cinema and wine will be the protagonists of the Cinematographic Harvests conference, at Espacio México Canary Islandsby Professor Joaquín Ayala and actor and musician Alcides Cairós.
On Saturday 17, the activities will move, with the collaboration of the Tenerife Rural Foundation, to the Cuevas de Lino Winery (El Batán), in which a guided tour will take place. And music will be the protagonist, on Friday the 30th, in the El Búho room with a concert by the Canarian group The Bottles.
The most anticipated appointment will be on Thursday, June 29, with a new edition of the aforementioned San Betinto, which will take place in La Concepción square, where there will be a tent with elements designed with recycled material, art in straight by the illustrator Iván Retamas, who will raffle one of his works among the attendees. A total of 16 wineries from the Tacoronte-Acentejo designation of origin and up to fourteen gastronomic establishments will participate.
Enhance the wines
Aitor López explained the importance of promote «the wines and winemaking activity of the Tacoronte-Acentejo region and to give it the relevance it has on rural development and the agricultural landscape of our land”.
Mari Paz Gil explained that a program has been developed “designed to attract an audience that can enjoy our wines, paired with our gastronomy, comics, opera, cinema, hiking, sustainability or music, because wine is all that, and everything what we want to share. And he added: “Throughout the month we will have the possibility of enjoying wine by the glass with tapas from various restaurants and taverns in the municipality, as well as pairings with raffles included and the possibility of paying with the option called This round we pay half, meetings with winemakers and wine and pairing workshops.
