SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 30. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (Miteco) has launched the first call for electricity generation facilities from renewable sources in the Canary Islands, published today, Tuesday, May 30, in the Official State Gazette.
Endowed with 84.9 million euros, the call is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) and will promote initiatives related to energy storage and network security, as well as green hydrogen production facilities, wind marine and sea energies. The period to apply for aid is open between June 1 and July 28.
The call, managed by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE) -entity attached to MITECO-, is aimed at projects presented by legal entities, public or private, which will receive aid that will cover between 40% and 75% of the investment made.
The subsidized projects will bet on the incorporation of storage systems, in existing facilities, in those repowered or technologically renovated and in new renewable generation facilities.
The deployment of photovoltaic installations on anthropized surfaces or in areas with human activity, offshore wind or sea energy installations, as well as others that encourage citizen participation will also be promoted.
In addition to the evaluation criteria, economic and innovation factors, the environmental renewal of the environment in which the facilities are located will be of special relevance, aimed at protecting ecosystems and the obligation to have bird detection systems in facilities. wind. Its administrative feasibility and social, gender and territorial impact will also be assessed.
OFFICE FOR THE ISLANDS
In turn, the IDAE launches the Office of Clean Energy and Smart Projects for the Islands to manage support programs within the framework of the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, coordinate the revitalization and development of the energy transition and promote compliance of your goals.
Among its various functions, the Office will assume the tasks of coordinating other citizen information, training and service offices and similar entities, as well as the launching, development and monitoring of projects in accordance with the milestones of the PRTR and training and advice of citizens, companies and administrations.
ISLAND UNIQUENESS
The singularities of the electrical systems in non-peninsular territories, derived mainly from their isolated nature and their small size, add difficulties to the integration of electricity production from renewable sources, which causes the electricity demand on the islands to be covered mainly with fossil-based technologies.
For this reason, within component 7 of the PRTR – Deployment and integration of renewable energies – a specific investment is defined that establishes the development of clean energies on the islands as a key milestone and foresees specific investments with the aim of achieving an adequate integration of renewables in the territory, which provide firm power and network security while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Applications must be submitted through the IDAE electronic headquarters between June 1 and July 28.
