Francisco Linares rules out negotiations with VOX and Podemos and barring “exceptions”, a cohesive strategy of alliances will be maintained
SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 31. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Canary Islands Coalition (CC) has created two working commissions to close “stable and moderate” government pacts both in the Cabildo de Tenerife and in the municipalities where there is no absolute majority and advances that it will do so with “generosity” and putting the general interests of citizens to “personalisms”.
This was announced to the media by the Secretary General, Francisco Linares, and the Organization Secretary and candidate for the Cabildo Presidency, Rosa Dávila, who have shown their desire for the negotiations to be quick, especially in the municipalities given that the local corporations are constituted on Saturday, June 17.
The commission to establish municipal agreements will be made up of Linares himself, the general secretary of Santiago del Teide, Jonathan Fumero, and the candidate for mayor of Guía de Isora, Ana Dorta, while José Miguel will intervene to reach an agreement in the Cabildo Ruano, number two on the island, the spokesman for the Nationalist Group, Carlos Alonso, and the counselor Blanca Pérez.
Linares has shown the “satisfaction” of the party with the electoral results when they had been “buried” four years ago, thanks to a “serious opposition work” that has produced a lot of “equality” on the island and with “many open scenarios” , with almost twenty town halls pending agreements.
He has insisted that they want to achieve “stable and solvent governments” that deal with the problems generated by the agreements of the previous term, since the voters have sent a “clear message” that they “want changes” on the island and in the Canary Islands, given that no left-wing pact “has come out stronger.”
Along these lines, he has indicated that with more than 100,000 votes it is demonstrated that CC is a “government force and the municipalities their “life serum” so it will seek the largest number of mayors and always putting the citizenry “above.”
He has also said that they will work “as a team” and with collective guidelines so that they will not be negotiated as “individualized elements”, while making it clear that “normal” is to seek the greatest possible cohesion and in line with the regional pact that is being negotiated with the PP.
However, he has warned that “squaring the circle is not possible” and in some municipalities there are issues that cannot be carried out and it would be “absurd to force agreements that will not benefit the citizenry.”
AGREEMENTS FROM THE BOTTOM UP
“The agreements will be from the bottom up, although there will be exceptions, but the normal thing is that the roadmap is marked and with the same line,” he pointed out, also noting that “there is nothing that cannot be waived” except for the “red line” of agreeing with Podemos and VOX.
“Everything can be discussed, it can be agreed, we are going to be generous,” he said.
Dávila has also described the electoral results on the island as “very satisfactory” because “the fruits of the work of four years, serious and rigorous” are collected, stressing that they give “great importance” to the electoral base of the municipalities.
He has highlighted that CC is a government party that “commits to moderation” and that it has established itself as a “dam of contention” for extreme proposals such as VOX and Podemos.
Regarding the pact of the Cabildo, he has highlighted that there have already been informal contacts with all the candidates, including the PSOE, and from now on they must begin to work with documents.
