Consultations at the Parque Marítimo Health Center in Tenerife will be transferred to the Tomé Cano CAE



The director of the Canary Islands Health Service, Elizabeth Hernández, has recently made a visit to the facilities of the CAE Rumeu Hardisson, in Tomé Cano, to analyze the feasibility of installing the health services provided by the staff attached to the Health Center in this property Maritime Park and certain outpatient clinics attached to the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital.

During the visit, the director of the SCS was accompanied by the director of the Tenerife Health Area, Ignacio López; the manager of the Hospital de La Candelaria, Natacha Sujanani; and the manager of Primary Care, José Miguel Rodríguez, among other health officials from said departments, as well as the works coordinator of the SCS Directorate, Julio de la Rosa.

The four-storey CAE building allows the facilities for Primary Care consultations and Hospital Care to be strengthened and to adapt health care to the new demands of the public. These actions are included within the Comprehensive Strategy for Primary and Community Care, +AP.

Currently, health care for the population attached to the Parque Marítimo Health Center, which amounts to 14,763 individual health cards, is offered at the Dr. Guigou Health Center. With the transfer of these consultations to the Tomé Cano CAE, the accessibility of these patients to Primary Care services is improved and, in addition, the use of spaces is optimized, both in the CAE building itself and in the building of the Center for Salud Dr. Guigou, where free areas will be available to expand its portfolio of services.

The transfer of the Dr Guigou Health Center to the CAE Tomé Cano allows the health center’s portfolio of services to be strengthened with the incorporation of diagnostic tests of ultrasound, dermatoscopy and spirometry with the aim of becoming a pilot center for the Primaira Care Strategy and Community.

The workforce of the Parque Marítimo Health Center is made up of eight Family Medicine professionals and eight Nursing professionals, who make up the eight Family Care Units established in the health center. To these professionals are added those in charge of the corresponding administrative unit.

Candelaria external consultations

The Tomé Cano CAE consists of five floors, of which two will be used for the services of the Parque Marítimo Health Center and the other two and the basement will be used for external consultations and a diagnostic area for patients affiliated with the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital. , on which this CAE depends.

Thus, on the -1 floor of the building, a new magnetic resonance and a CT scan will be installed, already acquired by the Hospital de La Candelaria, whose use will be the reference for the patients of the hospital center with the advantage of not having to go to the hospital to carry out these diagnostic tests.

On the other hand, the top floor of the property will have a multipurpose use by the Hospital de La Candelaria, where the services of Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology or Anesthesiology will be installed, among others, which will have external consultations in the CAE where you can work to reduce waiting lists and bring specialized health care closer to the population.

On the first floor of the building, the activity of external consultations of the Cardiology, Neurology, Digestive and Urology services will continue to be carried out, as well as the performance of electrocardiograms.
