He College of Dentists of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has accused the Councilor for Environmental Sustainability and Public Services, Carlos Tarifeof discriminating against the private network of dentists when applying the waste ordinance by denying, in his opinion, that containers for this purpose be deposited near the consultations.
In a statement, the dentists point out that the ordinance on waste management and cleaning of public spaces determines that it is the people who produce non-specific sanitary waste who must deliver it to an authorized management entity and that, in no case, will it be deposited in containers or alternative deposit systems established by the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife on public roads.
However, the College of Dentists of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has verified that at least five health centers in the capital have containers placed on the street for this type of waste and for exclusive use, authorized by the City Council of the capital. Tenerife.
The corporation has refused, on the other hand, to authorize private management companies to place this type of container at certain points so that dentists can deposit this waste. reason why the collegiate entity considers that the local corporation maintains an arbitrary attitude.
According to the president of the College of Dentists of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Concepción León, dental offices already assume the selective collection of sanitary waste through authorized companies, and now they have added a new obligation with waste that could be assimilated to households with the consequent increase in costs that this generates.
“We do not understand the refusal of the City Council or the lack of viable solutions for a group that is complying with all its legal obligations,” he adds.
