A column of smoke caused by a small fire declared next to the TF-5 motorway, which runs through the northeast and north of Tenerife, and a traffic accident have caused significant delays of several kilometers on this road on Monday afternoon.
The outbreak was declared around 3:40 p.m. after burning some stubble before the detour to the Botanical Garden, heading north, near the municipality of La Orotava.
It is an area where traffic jams usually occur. The column of smoke has surprised drivers by invading the road and significantly reducing visibility, forcing them to drive at a lower speed due to the danger that this situation generates. To this is added that firefighters have had to work from the highway to put out the flames. The Civil Guard has intervened to regulate the traffic of vehicles that pass through the area.
The traffic jam of more than an hour has been filmed by the Traffic Cameras of the Cabildo de Tenerife Highway Information Center, recording the slow traffic at the height of Santa Úrsula and in La Matanza de Acentejo.
In addition to this event, there has been a traffic accident near the Guamasa Golf Club, also generating delays of almost an hour in the direction of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The traffic cameras have detected this traffic jam at the height of Los Naranjeros, in the direction of the capital of Tenerife.
