Drago wants to give priority to Canarian families in water consumption over hotels

The candidate for Lanzarote to the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Rafa Jiménez, justifies the measure on the need to “alleviate the energy expenditure produced by the consumption of water on the Island”

The candidate of Canary Green Dragon Tree to the Parliament of the Canary Islands by Lanzarote in the regional elections of 28M, Rafa Jimenez, proposes giving preference in water consumption to households over hotels and other tourist accommodation on the islandas he explains, “as a measure to alleviate the energy expenditure produced by the consumption of water that entails the excessive tourist load, as well as for guarantee the supply in rural areas of Lanzarote and in La Graciosa”.

“In Lanzarote the time has come to set limits —says Jiménez—, the desalination of water for electricity to supply almost three million tourists is environmentally and socially unfeasible” and adds that “We have to put a brake on, as the State Government did with electricity consumption in the face of the energy crisis situation derived from the war in Ukraineor as we did in Lanzarote with measures such as the PIOL or the moratorium”.
