The mobility area of the Council of Tenerife has been awarded a contract to conduct a study of traffic in the roundabout of the TF-5 that connects with The Prickly Pear and Guajara, In the lagoon. The objective of this study is to evaluate the different alternatives that can be applied to improve mobility in this area.
The project lasts approximately three months and consists of carrying out a simulation of the traffic in all the accesses of the roundabout, in order to create a report on the operation of the traffic at that point and analyze the possible influence that could have the different proposals to improve circulation.
The alternatives that are going to be analyzed include projects such as the reorganization of some entrances and exits of the roundabout, as well as the construction of direct lanes, according to the Cabildo in a statement.
Once the study is completed, the selected solution could contain one or several proposals submitted, as long as they represent a viable improvement for roundabout mobility.
The roundabout that connects with Las Chumberas and Guajara suffers from frequent congestion due to the high volume of traffic generated by the link between the TF-5 regional interest highway and the access to the commercial space, the university campus, and the residential area.
In order to alleviate this congestion, the Cabildo de Tenerife has already carried out a microsimulation study that will complement this traffic analysis, which has been contracted to the company Desarrollo, Resiliencia y Sostenibilidad.
