SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 16. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The candidate of Ciudadanos (CS) for the Presidency of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Enrique Arriaga, highlighted this Tuesday the “bet” of his party for public transport, giving as an example the agreement of the Island Government Council for the purchase of 249 buses for 88 million or the rearrangement of routes and lines in the south.
“It has been necessary for Ciudadanos to enter the government group to carry out works that should have been built on the island decades ago. It has been Ciudadanos who has just carried out the largest purchase of buses in history for Titsa, with an investment of slightly more than 88 million euros, or who has promoted the creation of bus lanes, so that they go from three kilometers to more than 50. These actions endorse our work and make clear our commitment to sustainable mobility”, says the candidate in a note.
To this he adds that he wants “the people of Tenerife not to waste time on the roads” and for this reason he believes that public transport “plays a fundamental role” within the sustainable mobility model of training.
Arriaga assures that during this term he has led the Mobility area of the Cabildo de Tenerife, which has allowed him to “initiate fundamental projects for the island” and for the next four years he wants to finish what he has started “and finalize those initiatives that are in March”.
In addition, he affirms that in Ciudadanos they are betting on a train from the south “fully financed by Europe and the State, as happens in any other place in Spain.”
“We want that if the State invests 26,000 million euros in the next five years in railway infrastructure, the train in the south of Tenerife should be one of them and we will fight for it,” he says.
