Scientifically known as Echium, it is characterized by its spike-shaped structure and a wide range of colors that vary from deep red to vibrant blue. Among the most prominent species are the red tajinaste (Echium wildpretii) and the blue tajinaste (Echium virescens)which have fascinated visitors and botanical experts alike.

In addition to its impressive beauty, the tajinaste plays a fundamental role in the Canarian ecosystem. Its flowers attract a wide variety of pollinating insects, such as bees and butterflies, thus contributing to the pollination of other plant species. In addition, the seeds of the tajinaste are a food source for birds and small mammalswhich strengthens the food chain on these islands.
