Students of the Giro-Arte plastic arts workshop of the Insular Society for the Promotion of People with Disabilities (Sinpromi), dependent on the Cabildo, participate in the Mueca Festival of Puerto de la Cruz. Under the title Golifionas Grimaces, a group made four compositions in the Plaza de Europa inspired by the gesture of the human face, according to different attitudes.
On the arches of the bridge in the square, with a starting point in the already existing architecture and the theme of the Festival, the members of the workshop recreated the four faces with shapes and colors of your own imagination: rebellious grimace, astonished grimace, pouty grimace and stressed grimace. All arising from a pooling. The idea represents windows in the arches of this public space that allow to look from the sea and lean out. They are spectators of what happens in an event that brings together, each edition, numerous artists and the public.
The installation is made of plywood, painted with acrylic enamel. This artistic montage will be of an ephemeral nature, since it will be withdrawn without causing damage to the public space, once the Mueca Festival has finished.
In order to favor the interaction of Giro-Arte and other entities of Puerto de la Cruz, a meeting was held in parallel with users of the Asmipuerto Association, where experiences were exchanged and Giro-Arte students had the opportunity to show the creative process developed. They even invited their colleagues from Porto to share part of the show.
Sinpromi, public company of the Cabildo de Tenerifebegan in 1995 a creative experience aimed at people with intellectual disabilities to set up the Giro-Arte plastic arts workshop.
