SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 13. (EUROPE PRESS) –

Canarian Coalition of Tenerife has defended the intercultural nature of the island against the extremism that has emerged in recent years at the political level.

The head of the CC list for the Parliament of the Canary Islands for the island of Tenerife, Ana Oramas, and the candidates for Mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna, José Manuel Bermúdez and Jonathan Domínguez, held a meeting with groups of migrants on Saturday and foreigners from the island to analyze their situation in Tenerife.

According to Ana Oramas, “we are with canaries from around the world, canaries who were born in different countries such as Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, among others. The Canaries and Tenerife are a land of tolerance and a crossroads of cultures. Our people were emigrants and That is why today, all these people say that the Canary Islands must have the Canary Islands Coalition governing, those of us who have cared about them, for the people who are in Venezuela and those who have returned, for example. For me it is a day of great illusion and surrender of the work done”.

For his part, José Manuel Bermúdez indicated that they are people who have come to Santa Cruz from different continents. “Some were not born here, but they work and feel the city like us. It is important to know how they contribute to the improvement of our society. Santa Cruz has always been a tolerant, liberal city, where everyone has a place regardless of where they live. birth, sexual condition or religion. We want to maintain that liberal spirit that Santa Cruz has always had,” he added.

For his part, Jonathan Domínguez indicated that they have to make La Laguna a welcoming place where everyone feels important and can contribute to the improvement of the municipality. “We will continue betting on projects that improve participation and relationships between people, between diverse cultures, through peaceful dialogue, from respect and hand in hand with social entities to improve coexistence,” he asserted.
