This is what the mayors of the capitals of the Canary Islands charge

As the decisive period of the Canary Islands Municipal Elections 2023information is emerging about the candidates and the presentation of their programs for the next few years. The debate on whether the intentions of politicians stem from a vocation of public service or if it responds to the economic interest. Hence, the information related to the salaries of the main positions proliferates, whether they are presidents autonomousof council or the mayors of the municipalities.

Canary Islands is not an exception and the data on the emoluments of the first mayors are on display on the official website of the Civil Service. So, the salaries of the mayors of the canary capitals are the following (according to 2022 data):

–The Gran Canarian palms (Gran Canaria): Augusto Hidalgo receives a total of €71,400 year.

–Santa Cruz of Tenerife (Tenerife): José Manuel Bermúdez charges €73,158.12.

–telde (Gran Canaria): Carmen Hernández has a salary of €63,091.97.

–San Cristobal de La Laguna (Tenerife): Luis Yeray Gutiérrez’s salary is €77,565.46.

–Reef (Lanzarote): Astrid Pérez has a stipend of €66,896.62 year.

–Port of Rosario (Fuerteventura): Juan Jiménez González receives a salary of €48,737.44 per year (2021 data).

–San Sebastian de La Gomera (La Gomera): Adasat Reyes Herrera charges fees of 47,759.30 euro per year.

–Holy Cross of La Palma (The Palm): Juan José Cabrera, who was the mayor during the first two years of his legislature, had a salary of 53,065.20 euro per year. The current mayor, Juan José Neris, has a lower salary.

-Valverde (The iron): the salary of Antonio Ramón Chinea Padrón is 42,452.20 euro per year.

With these amounts, and after having included the two large cities that make up, together with The Gran Canarian palms and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the set of ‘Big Cities’ on the Islands: Telde and San Cristóbal de La Laguna, the average salary of the main mayors of the Archipelago amounts to about 60,458 euros per year.
