The Island Government Council approved the bases and the call for aid directed to the Livestock Health Defense Groups (ADSG) of Tenerife, to which it allocates 100,000 euros. The Councilor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Cabildo, Javier Parrilla, recalls that “the animal health It is fundamental, both for public health and for the maintenance and conservation of the biodiversity of animal species”.
For this reason, the grants They will be granted to the seven sanitary groups existing on the Island: Association of Canarian Pelo Sheep Breeders (Ovican), Aprolec, Porcino de Tenerife, Association of Livestock Farmers of Tenerife (Agate), Poultry, Apiten and Goat Guajara.
The insular Government reported that the objective of this aid is act on production costs to try to alleviate, as far as possible, the increase in the price of feed, energy and fuelwhich have experienced increases of up to 70%.
Javier Parrilla explained that the destination of this money is to help finance the operating and management costs of the livestock health defense groups (water, electricity and/or telephone), as well as the expenses of veterinary and pharmaceutical services; the purchase of vaccines, autovaccines, medicines, protection materials and animal health products and the deratization, disinsection and disinfection of farms.

Each one of the seven ADSG in Tenerife receives a grant of 1,500 euros of established amount, while the remaining 89,500 euros will be distributed, 50%, based on two criteria: the number of farms of each association and the number of Units of Major Cattle (UGM) owned by each farm.
Those who livestock health defense groups that are officially recognized by the General Directorate of Livestock of the Government of the Canary Islandsare up to date with their tax and Social Security obligations, are registered in the General Registry of Livestock Farms (REGA) and authorized as a dispensing center for veterinary medicines.
