He Council of Tenerife advances in the implementation of Cybersecurity Tourism Master Plan of the island, the first of these characteristics that a Spanish destination adopts and that will make it possible to reinforce the cybersecurity of the tourism sector compared to digital threats.
To this end, Turismo de Tenerife held a conference this Thursday in which it exposed the ins and outs of the plan to the sector and how the business community could benefit to deal with digital risks, according to the island’s Cabildo in a statement.
The plan aims to create a tourism and technological system that encourages companies to provide technical and legal security to visitors in the digital world and, for this, contemplates the continuous evaluation of companies in order to identify the vulnerabilities of their services and applications.
The main objective of the conference is to make companies aware of the importance of participating in the plan and warn of the digital threats to which the sector is exposed, giving different real cases as examples.
In total, the plan includes 17 actions that will be carried out over four years and plans to create a Tourist Cybersecurity Technical Office, which will be the directing body for island cybersecurity for the tourism sector and whose management will be carried out by Turismo de Tenerife. .
The initial phase of the plan contemplates the creation of a technical and advisory committee in the event of a destination reputation crisis due to cybersecurity incidents, the development of an advisory program for SMEs with the Chamber of Commerce and the promotion of ICT skills programs for improvement employment linked to cybersecurity, together with the University of La Laguna and professional training centers;
During the second year, the creation and development of training plans and technical awareness in cybersecurity, the creation of a digital maturity monitoring system and the promotion of the island as a cybersecure destination are foreseen.
In the third, market studies and advice on technological equipment will be carried out and the Tenerife Smart Destination projects will be promoted.
Finally, in the fourth year, the aim is to achieve full normalization of the development of each of the lines implemented, strengthening the development and continuity of all the lines of action.
These measures will be aimed at the 670 hotels, apartments, and hotels and rural houses that exist in Tenerife.
