The Granadilla City Council, denounced for alleged manipulation of documents and urban corruption in some works next to La Tejita

The Salvar La Tejita association has announced that it filed a complaint on Tuesday with the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Provincial Prosecutor’s Office against the Granadilla de Abona City Council for an alleged crime of document manipulation and another of urban corruption related to the construction of the Sotavento Suites complex. , next to the beach of La Tejita.

Specifically, the association has filed a complaint alleging that the mayor José Domingo Regalado (Canary Islands Coalition), the councilors María Concepción Cabrera and José Luis Vera, and an official from the Granadilla de Abona City Council allegedly manipulated a technical report regarding the infrastructure of sanitation/wastewater so that the document could not be examined. They also complain that the details of the license were not published in the official bulletin (BOC) or newspaper and that the license was approved one year before all the technical reports or a complete visa project were submitted.

Salvar La Tejita has indicated that the works on the complex “began in May 2022, a month before the City Council approved the license, but the builder did not show any type of identification or license number at the work until August.” The association recalls that in June 2022 it submitted a request to the Administration to receive information about the project, including proof of publication in the official gazette, and adds that in November 2022 the Administration, after receiving a communication from the Ombudsman , he sent them a documentation that did not include any reference to his publication.

The association points out that, in addition to the information received, “the only reference to the sanitation/wastewater infrastructure, a technical report from the public company, was blocked or corrupted.” Salvar La Tejita indicates that he requested a legible copy, directly from the Administration, and also through the Transparency Council and the Ombudsman. “Until today, 11 months after the initial request for information, the Administration has chosen not to provide this information to the association or to any other institution that had requested it,” they denounce.

Sotavento Suites, a residential complex under construction a few meters from La Tejita Beach, is promoted by Grupo Viqueira, the same developer responsible for Hotel La Tejita, which is currently awaiting a court hearing for irregularities in its license. Remember the organization. One of the points in this judicial process is that the sanitation infrastructure does not comply with current legislation, and the association presented a technical report (written by a qualified technician) to prove it. The same sewer infrastructure of the hotel would be used for Sotavento Suites, so it is logical that neither of the two licenses is valid with this obstacle.

The organization points out that it has also denounced the City Council before several courts and institutions for other alleged crimes, including the concealment of water analyzes (of contamination by wastewater), and the concealment of technical reports related to the closure of beaches due to the pollution.
