The president of the Canary Islands and candidate for the PSOE in the regional electionsÁngel Víctor Torres, made an appeal this Sunday to “restitute” in the municipal elections to the socialist Patricia Hernández in the mayor’s office of Santa Cruz de Tenerifewhich he arrived in 2019 and from which he was evicted a year later in a motion of censure that the socialist leader called a “conspiracy”.
Torres, who intervened in a electoral meeting of the PSOE that was carried out by the general secretary of the partyPedro Sánchez, said that in 2019 “Tenerife opted for a very strong political change on the island” that led the PSOE to the Government of the Canary Islands, to the Cabildo and to numerous town halls, including that of Santa Cruz, with Patricia Hernández at the helm.
“But then came the confinement” for the covid-19difficult moments in which “we all worked to solve the problems”while “others conspired in the shadows to evict Patricia Hernández from the mayor’s office,” he recounted.
“They elect us to solve the problems, not for the conspiracy,” added the president and leader of the regional PSOE, and for this reason “we have to make May 28 the maximum effort to achieve a historic restitution“and that Patricia Hernández returns to the mayor’s office, he said.
Patricia Hernández also took part in the electoral act and promised to take back the city to turn it into “the vibrant, clean and fun capital” that it was, a Santa Cruz free of “infographics”, alluding to the lack of actions by the municipal government of CC and PP, which in his opinion only present projects.
In Santa Cruz, the candidate joked, it is not necessary to apply the Electoral Law that prohibits inaugurations during the campaignprecisely because “there is nothing to inaugurate, there are only infographics”.
she promised to facilitate accessibility in neighborhoods, to install elevators in buildings that lack them, to have courts in all neighborhoods so that boys and girls can play “without paying” and to have parking spaces. “We are the majority on the streets, let’s be the majority at the polls,” proclaimed Patricia Hernández.
The president of the Council of TenerifePedro Martín, also participated in the rally and claimed the useful policy practiced by the socialists against the “incapacity and incompetence” of previous governments that tried to hold “Madrid” responsible for their lack of results.
Thanks to the socialists, he listed, the highway agreement has been unblockedan agreement for 200 million euros has been signed for water purification, the agreement for the Valleseco coastline has been signed, the houses in Las Chumberas are being rebuilt, the land for the refinery has been recovered for the future Santa Cruz and a hydroelectric jump is projected in Güímar.
