something starts to move Ten-Bel after the first tourist center in the south of Tenerife has been immersed in a process of unstoppable deterioration for decades. The historic private urbanization of the Costa del Silencio, which reached its splendor in the 70s and 80s, begins to take some steps to try to recover a part of the lost image of that destination for which half of Europe sighed, today with parks in ruins , potholes in the roads and apartments that have largely lost their aesthetic uniformity due to the proliferation of residential housing.
The first step aimed at reviving the brand has been the comprehensive reform that began in the Alborada apartments, which will reopen at the end of the year after an investment of 15 million euros by an American fund for a complete renovation of the common spaces and the 282 apartments. acquired by the Sparta group through its subsidiary Libra, as this newspaper announced yesterday. This general remodeling also includes the emblematic La Ballena natural pool, considered the largest of its kind in Europe.
The next advance will take place in the building of the old reception of Ten-Bel, next to the tower, which is already being worked on. The future health center of Las Galletas will be built in its lower part, which was recently visited by the Minister of Health, Blas Trujillo, accompanied by the mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena, who considers this location a priority to care for the patients of the zone. This same week, the counselor himself has contacted the property to formalize the procedures for renting the property, since its sale is ruled out. Meanwhile, the upper part is already being conditioned for the installation of a gym.
But there is more news. As DIARIO DE AVISOS has learned, the development project for the privately owned 47,000-square-meter park -today in a dilapidated state- has already begun, which in the golden age was home to a mini golf course, a children’s train and an enclosure aquatic area with boats, as well as a large annexed space with grass. Sources consulted indicate that it is a matter of “valuing” the park without modifying its morphology, through landscaping, laying new pavements, street furniture, lighting, renovating sidewalks, and paving the surrounding streets. The installation of a treatment plant will also be included.
ROADMAP
The technicians expect to have completed the drafting of the urbanization project before the end of the year. From there, the document must receive the approval of the municipal technical office to then proceed with the contracting of the works. Once completed, the City Council would review the work and, if it certifies its correct execution, it would receive the urbanization. Once this procedure has been completed, the possibility of granting licenses for new constructions on other plots of the urbanization, currently blocked, is opened.
Specifically, according to the information obtained by this means, the eyes of potential investors are set on two plots, one for commercial use and the other, close to the sea, for hotel use. The sources consulted admit that there are funds that have shown “great interest” in the acquisition of the latter, where a tourist complex with more than 600 beds could be built.
The path of refloating Ten-Bel seems to have begun. Pending the completion of the drafting of the urbanization project, two tangible events -the works in the Alborada apartments and in the building of the old reception-, mark the path of a rehabilitation that has been waiting too many years.
