SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 4. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The president of CEOE-Tenerife, Pedro Alfonso, this Thursday linked the drop in unemployment of almost 3,700 people in April in the Canary Islands to the Easter campaign, while at the same time he has influenced the differences between the registered unemployment figures and those of the Active Population Survey (EPA).
“Easter Week creates employment in the Canary Islands”, Alfonso highlighted in a note sent by the employers in which, however, he pointed out that the data are not “reassuring” given that they are limited to a time of year “traditionally good for employment”. in Spain and the Canary Islands, where the economic structure “is fundamentally based on tourism”.
Thus, it details that the high number of reservations for these dates makes hotel establishments, restaurants and shops “expand their staff to meet the expected demand”.
