The Council of Tenerife allocates 100,000 euros to help volunteer organizations to finance projects, campaigns and actions on the Island that benefit the community and improve the quality of life of the population, especially people and families in vulnerable situations. In addition, these initiatives should help to encourage participation and raise awareness among citizens to continue recruiting volunteers.
Grants will be awarded by competitive bidding. The term for the presentation of proposals opened on April 19 and will last until the 20th of this month. In this new call, the beneficiary projects will have to be executed between June 1, 2023 and June 1, 2024.
The Tenerife Isla Solidaria program, dependent on Sinpromi, currently has 615 affiliated volunteer entities and 3,447 volunteers. Its objective is to continue implementing volunteering in Tenerife, with actions that take advantage of the talent of citizens and promote their participation in matters of social and community life, as well as help entities so that they can maintain the solidarity activity that they carry out. on the Island and optimize their services.
ANDhe program is already 25 years old promoting solidarity work in Tenerife. It has become a benchmark for other administrations and encourages more people to join in offering their services as volunteers.
The CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta, highlighted in statements to EL DÍA that “the Cabildo is firmly committed to promoting social participation and volunteering.” He adds that “we have made this new line of grants for projects available to the island’s social entities.” Added to this, explains the counselor, “is the work of the workers of Tenerife Isla Solidaria in support of the entities to help them carry out campaigns and actions.”
The actions, explained Gugliotta, “are addressed to all causes, in the social, health, sports, educational, cultural, development cooperation, civil protection, educational, environmental, community or leisure and free time fields.” In this sense, the counselor of the integrated area in Social Action emphasized “the importance of creating community and contributing so that the work carried out by the entities has its continuity over time.”
