Borja Marrero, first Green Star of the Canary Islands, will cook at Arona Gran Hotel

The kitchens of the Arona Gran Hotel will receive, on May 13, the chef Borja Marrero, who will offer a tasting dinner with pairing for the forty diners who participate in the second edition of Gastroloversan experience that includes, in addition to the paired dinner, a wine tasting, live music and accommodation in the hotel itself, for adults only.

The experience begins with a tasting guided by Isabel Díaz, delegate in Canary Islands of Peralada-Chivite, and in which the participants will be able to discover exclusively the first vintage of Atelier, a grand reserve cava from the Privat winery, in a limited edition of just over 2,000 bottles. During dinner, diners will also enjoy a pairing that includes five references (two sparkling and three still wines) and will have the opportunity to toast with Perelada to celebrate the first centenary of the winerywhich is just this year.

With an admirable journey that includes the prestigious Hofmann School, in Barcelona, and the kitchens of Ferrán Adrià, Arzak and Ramón Freixa, the chef from Gran Canaria Borja Marrero has also toured the United States and Mexico, where he opened his own restaurant, acted as consultant to various catering groups and cooked for great personalities, such as Carlos Slim.

Back in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, he decided on his native Tejeda to give birth to an innovative project, with a concept in which proximity and sustainability reign, creating a closed circle in his space that includes orchards, corral, Livestock, cheese factory and own workshop. A revolutionary and very daring project that positioned him at the top of the gastronomy of the Canary Islands and Spain.

After the success of his gastronomic proposal, in 2022 he began a new phase with his restaurant MuXgo, at the Hotel Catalina Plaza (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), where he continued with his concept of proximity making use of his orchards and farms in Tejeda. , but taking its gastronomy to a more sophisticated level from a cosmopolitan location. Three months after its inauguration, MuXgo entered the Michelin Guide as a Recommended Restaurant, where it subsequently achieved a Michelin Green Star, the first to arrive in the Canary Islands. The current 2023 is the year in which it has obtained its first Sol Repsol, in addition to achieving the Sustainability Award and the Food Award of Spain, at the Madrid Fusión International Gastronomy Congress, held last January at the Campo de las Palacio Municipal de Congresos Nations of Madrid.

The complete experience at the Arona Gran Hotel can be enjoyed from 168 euros per person or 276 euros for two diners. Includes tasting, dinner with pairing and overnight stay with breakfast.
