The NUMAcircuit festival will celebrate its fifteenth edition from May 5 to 27, in which artistic and sound experimentation is the basis of a program that proposes more than fifteen performances and workshops in eight cultural spaces, where artists from Iceland, Italy, Korea or Norway and an important Canarian representation.
The programming of the NUMAcircuit festival in 2023 will take place in eight cultural reference spaces such as Auditorio de Tenerife, Kreitek, Espacio La Granja, Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (TEA), Equipo PARA Association, Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of La Laguna , ex-convent of Santo Domingo and Cero Fanzine (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), the latter two being new additions to the festival, which will allow the activities to be expanded to the island of Gran Canaria as well.
The festival opens next Friday, May 5, with a performance by Los Eletrobardos, a collective of multidisciplinary artists focused on sound art. It will be a free improvisation concert that celebrates the fifteenth edition of NUMAcircuit at the Espacio Kreitek in La Laguna, since all the members are and have been regular and prominent participants over the years.
NUMAcircuit is a collective platform for the creation and dissemination of new forms of artistic expression that aims to give space and an audience to artistic proposals committed to contemporary forms of creation, encouraging the appearance of new projects and collaborations, and feeding the critical sense of a public interested in avant-garde artistic approaches. PROGRAMMING
On Saturday the 6th it will be the turn of Miguel Jaubert and Alessandra Rombolá in the ex-convent of Santo Domingo, with two concerts as soloists and previous talks, since both are outstanding artists in their respective musical field.
The ULL Faculty of Fine Arts strengthens itself as the headquarters of NUMAcircuit from May 10 to 12. On Wednesday the 10th ‘Kyklos’ will be presented, a digital art installation by the Italian artist duo made up of Filippo Rustichini and Samuele Bergamini. They work in the field of audiovisual installations, where technology and art merge into a dynamic and vivid experience.
On Friday the 12th they both give a talk about their project and then ‘Performing suit’ is released, a digital art performance by the Korean artist In Kang Lee; His works are the result of an experiment in dance and movement and he will be present to discuss this action with the public.
The festival program continues at Cero Fanzine, where the talk and sound show ‘Noise Devices’ is scheduled with the participation of Rafael Pinillos, David Ramos ‘Darwin’ and David Paredes, followed by the performance of In Kang Lee. The day ends with an electronic music concert by the group CMOS34
The following Monday NUMAcircuit will arrive at the Auditorio de Tenerife, where the artistic residency dedicated this year to the musical field begins with ‘UNMUTE + Strings’, coordinated by the artist Yexza Lara.
The activities at Auditorio de Tenerife culminate on Saturday 20 with the residency show and concert by the Icelanders Bára Gísladóttir and Skúli Sverrisson, internationally renowned artists with a conceptual proposal to make sound become something alive.
The TEA continues to host one of NUMAcircuit’s training activities. This year, it offers an artistic residency for music lovers where three dj’s or selectors will be chosen through an open call to investigate the vinyl archive of the Cabildo de Tenerife that houses the TEA, and later, offer a unique session to the public. Also held is ‘Homegrown’, a percussion experimentation workshop and the performance ‘Prepared Drums’, by Daniele De Santis, multi-instrumentalist, percussionist and producer of Italian origin.
The Equipo PARA cultural association hosts the most informal meetings that favor spaces for relations between the public and creators. On Friday, May 26, there will be a performance by ‘Noise Devices’, and concerts by Akane and CMOS34.
NUMAcircuit culminates its activity at the La Granja Cultural Space, on the 27th, hosting two performances, a concert by the Norwegian artist Ingar Zach, under the name ‘The vibrating drum’, and the performance of the artist Michela Pelusio, called ‘Space Time Helix ‘.
