He Council of Tenerife has requested the municipalities of The lagoonFasnia, Arico, Granadilla de Abona, San Miguel, Vilaflor de Chasna, Guía de Isora and Tegueste the transfer of land for the construction of eight new collection points. This is the first step to launch this project that will have a total budget of 5.7 million euros which will also contemplate the improvement of the infrastructures of five of the already existing
To carry out this action, financing has been requested from the Next Generation funds for the implementation of waste regulations within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, having already obtained aid for 90% of said works. The implementation of this project is shaped as a strategic action that seeks to bring the separation of waste closer to the citizens of the Island and that is linked to the vocation of the island institution to promote the implementation of a recycling industry in Tenerife.
Waste management
The Island Council of Tenerife, as responsible for the Public Service for the Management of Urban and Assimilated Waste on the island of Tenerife, has various infrastructures related to it, strategically distributed in several municipalities of the Island such as the Environmental Complex of Tenerife, in the municipality of Arico, four Logistics Centers, located in the municipalities of La Guancha, Villa de La Orotava, Arona and El Rosario and eight Clean Points, located in Buenavista del Norte, La Guancha, Villa from La Orotava, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Güimar, Arona and Adeje.
To these clean points another eight will be added to be built in Los Rodeos (La Laguna), Las Eras in Fasnia, Tenerife Environmental Complex in Arico, Granadilla de Abona, Las Chafiras in San Miguel, Vilaflor de Chasna, San Juan Beach in Guía de Isora and Tegueste.
The Clean Points are management infrastructures where bulky containers and small rubble (<2 m3) are collected and, in general, all waste that is not collected by municipal ordinary collection services, but deposited by individuals, such as household appliances, computer equipment, used tires, rubble, bulky, etc.
