SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 27 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Government Council of the Canary Islands approved this Thursday a multi-year expense raised by the Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands for an amount of 10,829,533 euros to cover the price update provided for in the public transport service contracts education of the students of non-university public educational centers of the islands.
Of the total amount, this year 3,291,366 euros will be disbursed, and the remaining 7,538,166 euros will be paid in the next financial year.
This subscription, which refers to the so-called “historical debt”, highlights the Executive in a note, includes updating the prices of this service to the CPI from September 2011 to August 2022.
Previously, specifically on February 1, 2023, the expenditure of 7.3 million euros was approved by the Governing Council to update prices from September 2022 onwards, already carried out.
Last Friday, the President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the Minister of the Education Department, Manuela Armas, met with the head of the Federation of Transport Entrepreneurs (FET), Agustín Espino, to address compliance with the calendar and the fixed payment commitments.
Among other issues, they referred to this group of files as well as another block that totals 7.5 million euros, a good part of which has already been paid to the transport companies, and the rest is paid as they present their invoices. .
The annual investment of the Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports in the school transport service is around 50 million euros and serves to transport some 37,000 students, the Government highlights.
