One million euros for the promenade that will link El Pris and Mesa del Mar

The long-awaited coastal promenade project between Mesa del Mar and El Prispending execution since 2004, takes a new step and receives the first of 8 million of euros that the Council of Tenerife Calculate the cost of the works. the mayor of Urbanism and Coasts of the Tacoronte City Hall, Tarsis Morales (PSOE)has announced this week the signing of an agreement between the Cabildo and the State for the transfer of funds that will allow the process of this initiative to continue.

Morales recalls that “with this conditioning the communication between the two coastal nuclei of the municipality will be improved, we will solve the sanitation problem in Table of the Sea, in addition to improving its environmental conditions and enhancement, from the tourist point of view. In his opinion, “these are necessary infrastructures to value this part of the municipality.”

Although it was announced in July 2022, it was not until November of last year when the Council of Tenerife was able to award the drafting of the project for 143,208 euros. An intervention that proposes a pedestrian promenade that will unite both coastal nuclei, as well as numerous improvements in access to the sea, street furniture or sanitation. The technicians then calculated that the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Town Hall of Tacoronte, the Government of Spain and the Government of the Canary Islands They would invest more than 8 million euros in this performance.

The Island Government Council, at the proposal of the Insular Directorate of Tourism, commissioned the drafting of this project five months ago, with a deadline of nine months. If the initial forecasts are met, the final proposal, and its exact cost, will be known in August of this year.

For the Tacorontero Consistory this intervention between El Pris and Mesa del Mar it will be the most important to be carried out on the coast of Tenerife in the coming years, since it will also solve the sanitation problems of Mesa del Mar; will allow Tacoronte to gain a new bathing area on the Sargo beachand will intervene on the entire coast of El Pris, from the bus stop to the maritime avenue, and in a good part of the coast of Mesa del Mar.

The initial planning is that the works can be carried out between 2024 and 2027, although the precedents of 2004 force one to be cautious, since this project was about to be carried out 19 years ago until «a judicial process initiated by Balten for the expropriations reached the Supreme Court and caused the planned financing to be lost. Between 2007 and 2011 we tried to resume it from the local government, but it was not possible until 2022,” recalled the mayor of Tacoronte, Jose Daniel Diaz (NC).
