SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, has admitted this Friday that the study on the mobility of the island with the ‘green islands’, commissioned by the Government of the Canary Islands to the two universities, AIReF and the Ministry of Ecological Transition, it is “very dense and complex” and is not finished.

In response to a question from the Popular Group in the plenary session of the Cabildo, he stressed that it is necessary to “reconsider everything” and not work “with an advance that only serves to argue”, making it clear, however, that he has always been “clear” to personal title that the best option is to build the port of Fonsalía.

“We wanted a study and not a proposal and we cannot talk about alternatives because it is a false debate”, he indicated, while acknowledging that the “indefinition” of the Canary Islands Coalition, which went from promoting the project to rejecting it, has “harmed”. .

The insular director of Planning, Aarón Afonso, has confirmed that the Cabildo “has no evidence” that the study has been completed and has linked the delay in the possible construction of the port of Fonsalía to the fact that the previous Minister of Transport of the Government of the Canary Islands, Pablo Rodríguez (CC), “forgot” to request the extension of the environmental impact statement and it expired at the end of 2018.

Manuel Fernández has indicated that the mandate ends “and communications continue the same” between Tenerife and the ‘green islands’ when the Government of the Canary Islands had promised to have a first preview of results in the first quarter of this year that analyzed the construction of Fonsalía, transfer maritime traffic to Granadilla or Santa Cruz de Tenerife or leave the situation as it is.

In this sense, he has indicated that the situation is “quite worrying” with a project, that of Fonsalía, which is almost 30 years late and for this reason he does not understand the “passive attitude” of the Cabildo when, from the Government, the vice president, Román Rodríguez , has said that “Fonsalía is not going to be done nor is there a budget line for the studies”.
