The president of the Provincial Federation of Construction Entities (Fepeco) of Santa Cruz de TenerifeÓscar Izquierdo, has sent a letter to the Minister of Public Administrations of the Government of the Canary IslandsJulio Pérez, in which he asks for explanations about the details of the implementation of teleworking in the civil service.
Not surprisingly, construction is one of the activities that has suffered the most from delays, already turned into chronicles, in the resolution of files and procedures, without going any further in the concessions of building permits. “Repeated breaches” of the deadlines, Izquierdo reminds the counselor, “dangerously normalized.” In this scenario, he is not surprised that the announcement of the continuity of teleworking after the covid has raised blisters in the sector, which does not believe that the Executive branch takes this step without first resolving the holes in administrative management.
Fepeco’s request It is that the officials in charge of evacuating the files related to the construction “incorporate immediately and in person at their jobs.” The weight of the sector in the economy and the employmentboth in the province of Tenerife and in the Autonomous Community as a whole, is more than notable, which is why the president of the employers’ association requests information from Julio Pérez on a series of issues that directly affect the activity and, therefore, , hundreds of companies and thousands of jobs.
In this sense, and among other questions, Izquierdo asks the counselor for explanations about how the productivity of officials who stayed at home during the pandemic has been measured and, above all, how it will be measured in the future. Also if they are going to be required to comply with certain ratios; if the electronic headquarters of the departments work properly; whether or not to control how many employees telework each day or whether disciplinary measures will be taken in case of non-compliance.
