SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 27 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, highlighted this Thursday that the Canary Islands already had almost one million people employed at the end of the first quarter of the year and led the drop in unemployment in the last year with 32,100 less unemployed (-13 67%), according to data from the Active Population Survey (EPA).
In statements to journalists, he has admitted, however, that the first quarter always “tends to give worse data” because it coincides with “the January slope” and the end of the Christmas campaign – it already happened before the pandemic – but Despite this, he pointed out that the archipelago presents “the second best data in the historical series.”
Torres has also pointed out that there are 75,000 people working more than in July 2019, the last survey before the arrival of the current Government and maintains that this “is the way” to continue with the economic recovery.
Along these lines, he has pointed out that the registered unemployment data for the month of April will continue with the “declining” trend and has defended that “the best vaccine” against the “more expensive life” is to have a job and that is why he believes that “all the Canary Islands will be happy”.
