A man, identified as Yeray, was sentenced to two years in prison as the perpetrator of an assault with white weapon in Tenerifeafter he cut another passenger in a public transport vehicle with a cutter.
The victim, who had a bleeding wound between the shoulder and hip, also caused some injuries to his assailant, for which he was sentenced to a year in jail.
The events occurred a little over a year ago, on April 11, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. The two involved were inside a bus that makes the journey between the town of The Christians and the Santa Cruz de Tenerife interchange.
At a certain moment, for reasons that have not been specified, one of the defendants, Yeray, allegedly took a bottle of water and poured its contents over the other, Manuel. The latter got up and went to the place where the first of them sat. And between the two there was a struggle with blows, until Manuel came to give the other a strong impact on the face.
Later, Manuel went back to his seat and began looking for a pair of glasses among his effects. And then Yeray took a cutter from among his belongings and went to the other man. And he took advantage of the fact that Manuel was crouching down to cut him with the aforementioned knife in the back.
The injury occurred from the shoulder blade to the hip, on the left side, as certified by forensic doctors. As a consequence of that attack, the victim began to bleed..
The wounded man who had the cut took 21 days to return to his usual activities and he was left with a 45 centimeter long scar. the other defendant suffered trauma generalized to the face and loss of a dental piece, as well as other injuries to the neck, right shoulder and right knee.
On the day of this Monday, April 24, the trial was held in the Fifth Section of the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
An agreement was reached between the prosecutor and the defendants’ defense attorneys. Thus, Yeray has been sentenced to two years in prison and to indemnify Manuel with 5,000 euros. And he accepted a sentence of one year in prison for the different blows he caused the other person involved.
Until the aforementioned violent confrontation in the bus, both had no criminal record. For this reason, the representative of the Public Ministry and the Defense lawyers agreed that the magistrates of the Fifth Section suspend the execution of the sentence, in exchange for Yeray not committing a criminal offense in the next four years and Manuel nor carry out another crime in the next two years.
