The ‘Tu wawa’ application will facilitate transport on demand in Tenerife



The Cabildo de Tenerife will launch a computer application, called you wawawith the aim of facilitating public transport on demand by taxis and buses from the company Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (TITSA) to residents in dispersed population centers.

The island corporation has awarded the creation of this application that will be the final materialization of the pilot project that was carried out in the municipalities of Fasnia and Arico, as indicated by the Cabildo in a statement.

At the same time, the provision of on-demand transport service in the first of the eleven regional areas into which the island has been divided for this purpose is about to be tendered, whose first area of ​​action will cover Arico, Fasnia and Güímar up to the Mirador de Pájara and taxis in the area would provide it.

This new service, adapted for people with reduced mobility, will bring residents in remote houses or towns closer to the nearest bus stop. To use it, the user must book their trip from an area currently without service to the nearest stop and their return, from one week to half an hour before, through the application you wawawhich will be available for iOS and Android devices.

Trips can only be paid for with the Ten+ card, both in its wallet version and with monthly passes, that is, Youth Pass, Canarian Resident Pass and others. The price of the service is valid to make transfers with the rest of the TITSA lines, so the corresponding discount will be applied on the next trip.

In the cases in which the credit cards benefiting from the free transport are used, this will also be applied to the service, while in the occasions in which the cash card is used, a fixed rate will be paid.

The winning company has a period of three months to create the application you wawa which, affirms the Cabildo, will be a pioneer project to improve the mobility of those people who reside in more remote and dispersed places, bringing public transport closer to areas close to their homes to facilitate their movements.
