The Canarian Government presents the project for its expansion to the Hospital del Sur platform

The director of the Canary Islands Health Service, Elizabeth Hernández, and the Plataforma Pro Hospital Público del Sur de Tenerife met this Tuesday to learn about the plan provided by the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) for the expansion of the Hospital del Sur.

The Government of the Canary Islands has reported that the expansion plans to expand the portfolio of Specialized Care services in the south-southwest area of Tenerife through the planned remodeling works, which will also allow “adapting the healthcare provision” of this hospital infrastructure “to the current healthcare needs.

The Functional Plan contemplates incorporating new admission/reception areas, expanding the gynecological-obstetric Surgical Block and a Post-Anesthesia Recovery Area, establishing new circuits for surgery with and without admission and day hospitals.

In addition, new care units with a high degree of specialization will be incorporated, such as the Intensive Care Unit, the Hemodialysis Unit, Palliative Care, the Endoscopy Service and the Electromedicine Service.

It has also been planned to develop a new teaching and continuing education area for the Hospital Complex. With this new extension, it will be necessary to resize services that are already functional, but that due to their current surface or location do not cover future needs such as laboratories, pharmacy, sterilization, warehouses or maintenance.

The manager of the hospital center, Natacha Sujanani, along with the HUNSC management team, as well as the works coordinator of the SCS Management Support Unit, Julio de la Rosa, also participated in the meeting.
