The Plenary of the El Rosario City Council approved on Thursday a budget modification, through the execution of a credit operation of two million euros, to act in the urbanization of Tabaiba Media and Alta, nuclei that support serious deficiencies in their public roads from the very date of their development. With this credit, the City Council will face the total renewal of the drinking water supply, sanitation, telecommunications, lighting, steel and asphalt networks of Guaydil, Cardón, Sábila, Palmera, Brezo streets, part of Drago, Laurel, Aceviño and Verode street improvements. It went ahead with the favorable vote of the local government (9) and the abstention of the opposition councilors present (6).

At this point the mayor of El Rosario, Escolástico Gil, explained that “the government acts in an area that began to walk sixty years ago and it is time to change from top to bottom as we have done with others.” The mayor recalled that “it always seemed unfair to us that the money obtained in the land auction that was held at the time was not used for the Tabaiba urbanization itself, but the courts said that the reparcelling had to continue and now We have urbanization projects to carry out necessary works, highly demanded and that do justice to some neighbors who never saw their streets developed”.

In the motions section, the IR-Verdes spokesperson, Fátima Gutiérrez, defended a proposal to request the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Post Office management to take the necessary measures to solve the personnel problems, which are affecting the postal service that It is provided in the lower area of the municipality. In this sense, Gutiérrez explained that five motorcycle delivery sections work in the Radazul office and three of them are usually affected.

The mayor, Escolástico Gil, during the plenary session / DA

Mayor scholastic gil intervened to underline that “we have always defended the Post Office workers, both from my union career and since I am mayor, using the public postal service to send all communications with citizens; To say otherwise is to completely ignore my trajectory in the union struggle and what I stand for”. In addition, Gil took the opportunity to once again congratulate the best rural postman in Spain, José Castilla, a resident registered in Radazul, who serves the towns of Lomo Pelado, Las Rosas and Las Barreras. The motion was approved unanimously.

In another order of things, the motion presented by the Socialist Group to meet various demands from the residents of the transversal Camino Porcuna, Los Almendros and Cuevecillas, produced, as a novelty, the first neighborhood intervention in a plenary session, as allowed by the Regulations Organic Citizen Participation and Transparency of El Rosario approved in 2019.

Among the requests communicated, the neighborhood representative proposed improvements in asphalting, lighting, installation of canopies or cleaning the area. Both the spokeswoman Fátima Gutiérrez and the mayor Escolástico Gil explained that the classification of the land in this area is rustic for agricultural protection and rural settlement, so any action depends on sectoral reports from other Administrations and the Insular Water Council, as it is many homes affected by ravine channels. “It was never controlled that it was not built where it was not possible, but even so we act and try to solve the problems that arise,” Gil summarized.

Even so, the mayor made a review of the different interventions carried out, as well as the existing project for the implementation of led lighting from El Convento road to Cuevecillas and Pinito with 92 photovoltaic led light points, in addition to the fact that Porcuna is being renovated and an agreement was reached with the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council to pave El Convento road, since it belongs to that municipality. At the same time, he recalled that since 2008 the IR-Greens group has been presenting motions urging the Cabildo to install canopies. The motion was rejected with the contrary vote of the local government and the favorable vote of the opposition councillors.

The proposal of the Socialist Group regarding municipal social networks was also rejected, with the same result in the vote. The spokesperson for IR-Verdes highlighted that the City Council “has one of the highest quality and most consolidated channels of communication and Citizen Participation in the municipalities of Tenerife, where those who come into contact with our social networks are served, almost immediately, a job that must be valued”.

Finally, the Plenary unanimously approved the local festivities for the year 2024: Carnival Tuesday (February 13) and the Monday after the Sunday on which the La Esperanza pilgrimage is celebrated (August 5).
