He historic center of La Orotava lived a historic day this Sunday April 23 with the act of canonical coronation of Mary Help of Christiansalso coinciding with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Salesian house in the Villa and also with the arrival of the image itself at the school.
The religious act was presided over by the Bishop of the Nivariense Diocese, Bernardo Alvarez Afonso, accompanied by the provincial inspector of the Salesians, Fernando Báñez; the director of the Salesian school of La Orotava, Francisco de Paula Jaldo; about thirty priests; representatives of brotherhoods and brotherhoods of the Villa, and religious, among others.
The religious act, which was attended by some 2,700 people from all parts of the island, took place for almost two hours in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and, later, a procession took place to the Salesian San Isidro school where they greeted her with a Hail Mary. .
The Villa has been decked out for the occasion with blue and pink banners representing its image. A flower carpet was also made with the image of Mary Help of Christians.
La Orotava already has two images with canonical coronation. The Virgen del Carmen from the parish of San Juan Bautista (in 1988) and now Mary Help of Christians from the Salesian house.
