The spokesman for United We Can in it Santa Cruz de Tenerife Town Hall, Ramon Trujillohas affirmed that the Consistory allows that Sacyrthe company awarded the management of the water cycle, fails to comply with the commitment to invest with its own funds for which it was awarded the service.
Sacyr, the company that won the privatized management of water for 25 years, promised to invest 45 million euros, with its own funds, in the municipality, the spokesman for Unidas Podemos specified this Saturday in a statement.
However, in the Control Commission last Thursday, Dámaso Arteaga, councilor for Infrastructures, stated that the investment of those 45 million is conditional on “yields and cash flow”, which are lower than what the United Nations spokesperson We can see them as “exaggerated initial forecasts”.
Trujillo affirms that the municipal government has proposed executing 33.9 million of the 45 planned and that, given the public statements of the Infrastructure councilor, “it is obvious that another breach of what was agreed and announced has been assumed with respect to the disastrous privatized management of water” in Santa Cruz.
Unidas Podemos points out that 64% of the concession time for the privatized management of the water cycle has already elapsed and that, at most, only 26% of what was agreed to be invested with own funds has been invested.
“It is clear that both the delay in executing these investments and the reduction in their amount, delay the increases in productivity that could occur and, therefore, imply indeterminate economic damage,” says Trujillo.
Likewise, the municipal spokesperson for Unidas Podemos points out that the municipal government has allowed the 165 million additional investments, which the mixed company had to finance, to remain at 106 million and, in addition, to reach that amount, the 33 are computed, 6 million that Sacyr must return to EMMASA for having improperly collected them.
This means that non-compliance is even greater than it seems, adds Ramón Trujillo, who points out that the privatized management of the water cycle only causes serious damage to the municipality and that the refusal of the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, to allow the City Council to person in the criminal case, promoted by United We Can, on the improper collection of 33.6 million, “only contributes to weakening the position of municipal interests against Sacyr.”
