The municipalities of Vilaflor de Chasna and Granadilla de Abona presented yesterday the 16th edition of the Camino del Hermano Pedro, the annual pilgrimage walk that will take place tomorrow between the Plaza de San Pedro Apóstol, in the center of Vilaflor, to the Cueva del religioso chasnero, on the coast of granadilla.
The route of Hermano Pedro, in which thousands of pilgrims participate each year, recalls the path that the first Canarian saint traveled with his flock from the summit to the coast. The walk will leave first thing in the morning and it is estimated that it will reach its destination point after noon.
The press appearance was attended by Agustina Beltrán, mayoress of Vilaflor de Chasna, and the councilor of Granadilla de Abona, who were accompanied by the parish priests of the Chasnero municipality and the religious space of La Cueva, as well as members of the organization.
Pedro de San José Betancur has not only left a deep mark on the Archipelago, but is also considered the first saint in Central America. Starting at dawn, a special security operation will be activated, made up of the local police of both municipalities, Civil Protection and the Red Cross.
In addition, a security plan has been designed in the surroundings of the Cave.
