The Agrupación Herreña Independiente (AHI) and Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-BC) have reached an agreement to join forces in El Hierro and compete in single lists for the municipalities, the Cabildo and the Canary Islands Parliament in the elections of the next May 28.
The agreement document was signed this Wednesday by the president of the AHI, Javier Armas, and the president of NC-BC, Román Rodríguez.
Both parties intend to contribute “to the most appropriate development of the island of El Hierro to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants and make them equal, at least, to the rest of the Canaries, as well as to contribute, from El Hierro, to the common project of a Canary Islands solidary, sustainable and socially and territorially balanced”.
Thus, Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista will not present itself with its acronym in El Hierro and will support the Agrupación Herreña Independiente, “recognizing its historical role as promoter of a sustainable island and consistent nationalism,” according to the agreement.
To do this, it will propose people to integrate the lists presented by the Agrupación Herreña Independiente.
SUSTAINABILITY
The AHI and NC-BC will base their agreement on the development of public strategies that allow “balanced economic and social growth, avoiding inequalities and allowing the sustainability of private initiative as an engine of development in the workplace.”
Both parties consider it important to rescue, revalue and strengthen the island’s primary sector. For this reason, agriculture, livestock and fishing must occupy a preferential place in government action, with plans for the recovery of intensive agriculture, especially of the production of pineapple from El Hierro and other tropical products, collects a joint note from both formations.
For this, they point out that proper water management is necessary, both for the consumption of the population and for irrigation.
A common concern of both formations is the culmination of the island’s energy sustainability plans, specifically those related to the Gorona del Viento company, to reach the goal of 100% of the energy that the island needs through clean and renewable energy as soon as possible. , collect the agreement.
As regards land and territory, they propose to unblock local and insular territorial planning to guarantee the balanced development of El Hierro while conserving the insular heritage and culture.
LOCAL FUNDING
Another substantial commitment agreed upon by both formations is the defense of the Canary Islands tax differential and of progressive and fair taxation “that enables the operation of essential public services, the development and maintenance of infrastructures and, especially, the essential role of ceded and own taxes to guarantee the adequate financing of city councils and councils”.
Both political parties are also committed to defending the fundamental public services that are provided in El Hierro, such as health, education, social rights or transport, preventing remoteness and other economic factors from diminishing the rights of the people of El Hierro and implying a disadvantage. with respect to the rest of the canaries.
The text signed this Wednesday states that the set of contents agreed between the AHI and NC-BC for El Hierro converge with the “global proposals” that they defend for the Canary Islands and that the parliamentary representation of AHI and NC will coordinate, “in the framework of the autonomy of each force, to fully develop them”.
