SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 14 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Citizen Participation and Diversity area, will allocate an item of 90,000 euros this year to aid to finance projects and activities of social entities and groups on the island that encourage participation and involve the citizenship in the affairs of local life. Its objective is to support the associative fabric of Tenerife to promote citizen participation and community development.
The Island Government Council has approved the call for these grants, which will be granted on a competitive basis. Its main purpose is to promote actions that increase the prominence and involvement of the population in public affairs, that respond to their real and problematic needs and that result in the improvement of the quality of life and well-being.
The actions subject to subsidy will have to be carried out between June 1, 2023 and June 1, 2024, and will be aimed at promoting the full and effective integration of the population in the community, especially vulnerable people and groups. Applications must be submitted within a period of 20 business days from the date of publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP).
With the aim of favoring citizen participation, the Cabildo is working on the development of an insular strategy that will serve to define insular actions and policies in this area. For its preparation, a public consultation has been developed to collect the contributions of Tenerife society through the Cabildo web platform.
In addition, meetings have been scheduled with representatives of the town councils, as well as with groups and associations related to diversity, disability, interculturality, the elderly, childhood, adolescence, equality, the environment and culture, to involve them in the strategy and collect their ideas. .
Once this phase of meetings is finished, a work stage will begin to assess the proposals presented and draw the lines that will mark the island’s actions in terms of participation in the coming years.
