It was the year 1925 when Ben Migginsa chain camera american fox, was traveling through several countries of the Mediterranean basin. In the intercontinental transit, the American made a stop at Canary Islands that he took the opportunity to film some images on different islands, with which he wanted to show daily chores that the canaries did on a day-to-day basis.

The account of Tik Tok @lagranfilmoscopolia He has recovered them, but this time in his colored version -not in black and white as they were originally shot-, offering a good sample of what the canaries of the time were like.

belong to a documentary

As some researchers have been able to find out University of Las Palmas de Gran Canariait is assumed that the content of these images is about 30 minutes and that they are part of a documentary called ‘Canary Islands’ that the North American chain premiered in 1926, but that has not yet been recovered.

In the sequence you can see from personal images (milkmaids, peasants, children…) even the ones that explain work related to agriculture. In the case of Gran Canaria, one of the locations was in tafira, where you can see images of washerwomen; while in Tenerife, you can see a family of peasants from Las Mercedes or camels with barrels of water in Puerto de los Mármoles, in Lanzarote.
