The insular decision was adopted in a plenary session by 27 votes in favor and two against, and came after a motion defended by the counselor of Canarian Coalition (CC), Efraín Medina, who stressed that the work of the first saint of the Archipelago “is known throughout the world and arouses great devotion in Central America.”
