SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 12 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has presented this Wednesday the 2023-2024 season of Ópera de Tenerife, which is made up of seven titles that mix traditional repertoire and renew the commitment to contemporary, chamber and Spanish titles.
In addition, the Tenerife Symphony will continue as a traveling companion for all the titles that require an orchestra.
The details of the new program were announced by the Minister of Culture, Enrique Arriaga, and the insular director of Culture, Alejandro Krawietz.
Arriaga reviewed the season that is about to end and highlighted that “in the absence of two titles, the family this weekend and the Tannhäuser in June, there are 9,350 spectators at Ópera de Tenerife and it is expected to end with an increase in 60% compared to the previous season”.
Regarding the new proposal, under the slogan ‘Universo Ópera’, he shared that two of the most outstanding tenors from Tenerife, “recognized throughout the world, Jorge de León and Celso Albelo, are part of the next season”.
The Minister of Culture reaffirmed the effort “to democratize culture, setting reasonable prices so that everyone who wants to can go to the opera and expanding the number of more affordable seats.”
In addition, he said, “you can get tickets for the entire season from 88 euros and we maintain the ticket for people under 30 years of age, for only 20 euros”, emphasizing that “a ticket with Ópera de Tenerife costs the same as a ticket for a single opera in a Spanish venue with similar characteristics”.
For his part, Alejandro Krawietz acknowledged that they are “excited” to present “this universe of opera, a constellation in the Auditorium in which each title contributes its light and allows a layout that is aligned with the Culture strategy of this institution”.
In recent seasons, he pointed out, “we have made an effort to cover as wide a range as possible with repertoire titles, but also paying attention to contemporary, chamber and Spanish-language operas.”
In addition, he emphasized the female presence as the axis of the programming.
